THE START

In episode 1, I provide an introduction to the process of creating a short film. I talk about issues such as how I approach a project and putting a basic story structure in place. Once the initial preparations are complete, I start the search for a writer. A story outline is a great place to start, but it requires a talented writer to turn it into a workable script. I’m excited to invite you into my world of creative film production. I’ve developed my own process that has already delivered excellent results, and now it’s time to share it with you.

n episode 2, I interview Yorgo — a hugely talented filmmaker who created a compelling short film on a very tight budget. The challenges he faced, and overcame, taught him a lot. We get together to discuss his journey. How did he succeed in the face of such monumental challenges? And what did the process do for him as a filmmaker?
During our frank and friendly discussion, we talked about what he took away from the process, who he turned to for help and how he battled with issues such as mental health and imposter syndrome. If you’re a creative, you’ll find his story inspiring and fascinating in equal measure.

Calling all creatives! We have the first draft of our script, and now it’s time for a quick read-through to see where we’re at. If we’re happy to proceed with the script as it is for now, we can start our search for a director. Our team is growing, and our production is slowly taking shape. But once we have a director in place, will they want to make changes to the script?
In episode 3, we take a close look at the script assessment and director callout processes. We also take a close look at budgeting and costing issues. After all, we need to ensure that our project is financially viable.
